Avery
This boy is about 3-5 years old and is a very classic working type Aussie with a deep red coat and minimal white, a lovely compact build and beautiful, easy movement.
He's very gentle and takes treat out of your hand nicely. He's very affectionate and seeks attention--in fact, he would love to have all your attention, so he'd be fine as an only dog. So far he doesn't seem to be too high energy, but is positive for heartworms, so when he is treated and restored to full health, that could change. Avery is also pretty good on a leash. He's convinced cats must want to play with him so we're recommending a no-cat home.
Avery will not be placed until his heartworms treatment is complete, probably sometime in February, but you can apply here now. He is fostered in SW KY. NS 357

Boone
This young guy is about 18 months old and gives kisses! He is a leggy adolescent and like many teenagers, is a little underweight. He won't get any taller but he does need to put on about 10 lbs.
Boone is fostered in Odessa, FL
Patrick
Patrick is 1.5 years old, a smaller guy, white with black spots. He's one of New Spirit's "honorary Aussies"--way too nice to leave behind in the shelter after we got there and realized there's quite a lot of Australian Cattledog there rather than Australian Shepherd..
He is very sweet and loving. His known commands include, here, sit, down, speak, shake, go lay down, & off . He is crate trained. He does like to bark at all the bad things out in the night but that's not always a bad thing! Patrick does well with other dogs, larger and smaller, and stays off the bed if asked.
Patrick is fostered in Western KY. Apply here NS 377
Moose
Meet Moose Man, a very handsome 5yr old blue merle male with at tail! This boy is just a happy-go-lucky guy. Moose is a BIG ole goofy boy who weighs about 80lbs. His foster home is doing a great job of slimming him down. His perfect weight would probably be somewhere around 70lb.
Moose is doing well in his foster home. He's having a great time running and playing with the boys but we think he'd do great in a household with or without other dogs. Moose does well with just about everything and everyone: men, women, children--even as young as a year old. He rides very well in the car, stays where he is supposed to. He is house trained and crate trained and his manners on leash have come a long way.

Spock PENDING
This red bi boy is three years old and loves to play. What a wonderful dog. He really wants to please and gets very upset if he thinks you're unhappy with him, so he needs someone who will be calm and patient with him. He especially needs the men in his life to speak gently to him to bring out his happy, upbeat side.
And it's delightful to treat hin gently so you get to see his happy side because Spock has a turbo butt when happy. It can go so fast, he just wiggles all over!
Because he is naturally a little reserved and shy, Spock enjoys being in his crate which is a safety zone for him.
Since Spock is easily startled by loud voices and abrupt movements, we don't want to place him with children under 10. He could use a little work on leash walking, is housebroken, and comes when called.
Spock is finishing treatment for heartworms and will be available at the end of February or the first of March. He is fostered in Dunedin, FL Apply here NS 342

Help him celebrate 2010 in good health!
Caden
Caden is a smaller red merle boy with a tail, and weighs about 30 pounds. He's a very sweet boy about 18 months old. Caden is very playful and readily bonds to people. He immediately started giving his foster home's 1 year old child kisses so he's affectionate and very nice with children.
Unfortunately Caden is positive for heartworm so we'll be getting him the treatment he needs and he will be healthy and ready to go around the end of March.
Caden is fostered in FL. Apply here NS 345
Prospective adopters should be warned of dangerous amounts of tail wagging: it's non-stop! We've grown accustomed to the solid 'thump thump' of this happy appendage. He would make a perfect 'family dog'
This big guy is fostered in Bradenton, FL. Apply here NS 288
Caribou
Say hello to Caribou! He’s a very handsome 9 yr old blue merle male who weighs about 38lbs. His owner was moving and couldn’t take him. He’s a sweet boy who is more interested in people than other animals. He walks well on a leash and sleeps on a doggie bed next to his foster parents at night.
Caribou still has many years left to love you!
He is fostered in Tampa, FL. Apply here NS 348

Gilligan
Gilligan is around 2-3 years old, a red merle with blue eyes and a full tail. He's on the smaller side at 32 pounds but could stand to gain a few. Despite some obvious neglect, he has not one mean bone in his body and loves and respects other dogs of all sizes. He has discovered all of the toys in his foster home and will entertain himself or happily play with one of his foster siblings.
Gilligan is doing well with housetraining, goes in his crate for a treat and stays quiet as a mouse until you get up in the morning. Then the wiggle butt action begins. He is so happy to see you! And ready for BREAKFAST! Regular food is obviously something that was lacking in his former life, and he seems not to have lived in a house, so being a housepet and having close contact with people are something he’s just learning about now in foster care. He seems to be a naturally shy personality but he’s making great strides and so wants to be near you. He will come when you whistle or call his name, but then can become nervous again and hesitate. Gentle coaxing and a tasty treat will get him every time!
Gilligan has a slight limp in one front paw due to a genetic defect but it doesn’t slow him
breeding and as a result, has limited vision, but definitely can see well enough to get around and function. The foster home notes that it’s only at night or in darkened space that he hesitates. He seems fine in the daylight, as you will certainly see if you check out his video! Gilligan hasn’t been tested with cats or children yet. Because he does so well with other dogs and they seem to give him confidence, we recommend he go to a home with another dog. His new family should be willing to give him lots of experiences so he learns that people are his friends.
Gilligan is fostered in Southern KY. Apply here NS 307

down and won’t require any future treatment. He was the result of a merle-to-merle
Bo
This is Bo man, a stunning black tri with a winning smile! He's 2 1/2 years old and just an all-around nice dog: he's crate and house trained, good with other dogs, kids, and cats, also knows commands. He's being surrendered to rescue due to loss of a job.
Bo is fostered in Indian Rocks Beach, FL. Apply here NS 397
Cici
Cici is a two year old black tri mini Aussie with a docked tail. Cici’s breeder is going out of business and asked rescue to take her. Cici was purchased from the breeder as a puppy, but was returned when she became too overprotective of the baby in her home and wouldn’t allow the father near the child when the baby was crying. A little bit of structure and leadership will help Cici to understand that she doesn’t need to protect a child.
This little 25 lb sweetheart is reeling a bit at losing her family. But she’s got an adorable wiggle and a very loving nature. She likes to grin submissively when we talk sweet to her - and her grin is a little lopsided giving her a very convincing Elvis sneer.
Cici walks nicely on leash, goes right in her crate and rides well in the car. She is hesitant with new people, but warmed up nicely to men and the teenage boy in her home. Cici is good with cats and other dogs.
Cici is fostered in Kennesaw, GA Apply here NS 353

Cara PENDING
Cara is a gorgeous and sweet red merle female Aussie with a docked tail. She is two years old and was surrendered by a breeder here in GA who is going out of business.
Cara hasn’t been exposed to many things in her young life; however, she bonds very quickly with people and just takes a moment to get to know someone new. Cara is wonderful with other dogs and so far is doing well with cats as well.
Cara is learning how to walk on a leash and her house manners - but she’s a very bright girl and catches on quickly.
Cara is fostered in Smyrna, GA.
Bard
Bard is a very handsome 2 yr old black bi male. He is very sweet but very unsure of being in the house since he's been an outside dog.
He's warming right up to life indoors though, and gets along great with the foster home's dogs: in a matter of minutes, they were playing and it has been non-stop fun ever since!
Bard is fostered in Indialantic, FL Apply here
NS 349
Riley
Riley is an adorable little fellow with the cutest natural bobbed tail that waves high and fast when he's excited. He's about 3 years old and will soon undergo all of his veterinary work.
What we know about this little guy so far is that he is good with other dogs and ignores cats. He walks wonderfully on leash and does well in the car. Riley is a little hesitant right now, but he is a happy boy with a willingness to please and enjoys affection.
Please stay tuned as we get to know Riley better.
Riley is fostered in Woodstock GA. Apply here

Chelby
This very cute, very young, red merle girl is fostered with 3 males right now and is having a blast playing with them. She also seems to have a lot of respect for cats: we walked her by the cats and one charged the kennel and hissed at her, she jumped and wouldn't go near the rest of the cat kennels!
At the shelter she had to be put in a kennel with a top on it as she tried to climb her way out of the regular area, but so far she's respecting the fence
her foster home.
She's good with kids --she perks up when she sees one and tail just justs wagging like she was seeing a long lost friend.
Chelby will need another dog to play with and keep her company, and possibly a few kids!
Chelby is fostered in Port Orange, FL Apply here NS 350
Juliette
Meet Juliette. She will steal your heart! (Look: she has a heart on her head!) She is a sweet girl and very gentle with people and good with other dogs.
She's a sable female about 2 years old we think. Juliette weighs 44 pounds and is house and crate trained. She is HW+ so she has to go through treatment and will not be available till the end of April.
Juliette is fotered in Dunedin, FL. Watch for updates Apply here NS 398

Kayla
Meet Kayla, an adorable 9 month old Aussie with a natural bobbed tail.
Boing, Boing, Pop Goes The Weasel could describe this bouncy little energetic pup. She is so happy and affectionate with a fun personality and she enjoys everone and every dog she meets. Kayla is great with kids, is housetrained and crate trained, and walks reasonably well on leash - but often gets distracted by things around her. “Places to go, people to see” is her motto. Kayla is the result of a double merle breeding and has deficient hearing - but it’s hard to tell that sometimes because she is so people focused and likes to stick close. A fenced yard is a requirement to adopt her - due to her inability to hear clearly someone calling her or passing traffic.
Kayla is fostered in Lawrenceville, GA. Apply here NS 417
McGrady
This nice boy is a little shell-shocked after a long stay at the shelter in a pen full of pit bulls and other intense breeds, but he handled himself well and is grateful to be in a lower key situation in foster care now.
He's about 3, on the smaller side at 40 pounds, a black tri with a full tail, and one completely blue eye and one completely brown eyes: just stunning!
He rides well in the car, and appreciates everything you do for him.
McGrady is fostered near Charlotte, NC
Barney
Barney is a real "looker": a gorgeous red tri with freckles. He's a neutered male, 2 years old, with a white collar, pearly white teeth, and golden green eyes. He knows some commands and his foster mom says he is house and crate trained.
Barney weighs 57 pounds, rides well in the car, and is just an nice fellow to have around.
Barney is fostered in St. Petersburg,FL Apply here NS 339
Dillon
Dillon is a sweet and smaller black tri Aussie with a docked tail. He was dropped off in a nightbox at a shelter in TN.
Dillon is a very affectionate and quiet dog that is good with cats, rides nicely in the car, and floats like a dream on leash. Dillon is a bit uncertain about new dogs and new people, but he warms up quickly and is very food motivated.
He’s quiet as a mouse in his crate and follows his foster family around from room to room.
Dillon is very new to our program - please stay tuned for updated photos and information. He is fostered in Kennesaw, GA. Apply here NS 416
This young lady is Sara,.a pretty blue merle with a tail. She's 4-5 years old, seems to like other animals and people, and will be fostered in Deland, FL
Zeke
This is Zeke, a very nice smaller Aussie who spent a really long time in the shelter. Many people inquired about him, but nobody adopted him.
And boy did those folks miss out, because this is one precious 25 pound bundle of sweetness. Zeke is such a nicely balanced boy, low key and affectionate and already knows some obedience commands. He does wonderfully with cats and other dogs but really loves people.
This is a wonderful dog that could fit nicely in any home, and he’s travel sized for your convenience. Don’t make the same mistake all the other people did by passing this wonderful dog up.
Zeke is fostered in Woodstock, GA. Apply here NS 421

Frankie
Frankie is a blue merle with blue eyes and quite handsome. A really nice boy, too. He can be a little nervous at first but thensettles nicely. He should have a fenced yard as he does not have really good recall. Frankie is 6.5 years old, and was surrendered by his owner due to illness.
FRankie weighs only 35 pounds and needs to gain a few. His coat is a little dull and brittle at the moment but should improve quickly with care.
Frankie is fostered in Tampa, FL. Watch for updates. Apply here NS 077
This lovely family of 5 week old pups and their purebred blue merle Aussie Momma came to us from a shelter and we scooped them up fast to avoid any risk of parvo.
The pups are only 5 weeks old and won't be ready to go for several more weeks.
Magi, the mom, is 3 1/2 years old and weighs 50 pounds. She's a beauty and we'll feature her in more detail when the pups are weaned and placed.
The whole family is fostered in Deltona, FL Apply here

Benny
Meet Benny, a handsome and charming boy. Sadly, Benny's owner was diagnosed with cancer, so he has found himself looking for a new home at the age of 6. Benny is friendly and easy-going, and well mannered. He walks great on a leash, is house trained and crate trained. He loves to go for car rides, and behaves very nicely on the road. He is working on his basic commands with his foster family; he's a quick learner! Benny has perfect house manners, and loves the other dog in his foster home, and even gets along great with the cats! Don't miss out on this fantastic boy - he's sure to steal your heart in a matter of minutes!
Benny is fostered in Clearwater, FL. Apply here NS 076
Lara

Hedy
This sweet girl is three years old and was placed but didn'tget along with the other dog adopted at the same time though she's gotten along fine with others so don't let that deter you from considering her. She truly is a gem!
She is a kind and friendly girl who knows how to give paw and shake. Hedy has the look and style of a working Aussie and she corners like a Ferrari and can stop on a dime. She seems to ignore cats, and likes to play rough with her male foster brothers.
Hedy is fostered in Metro Atlanta, GA. Apply hereNS 303

Martin
This lovely senior fellow was adopted but didn't do as well with the cat in his adoptive home as he had with the one in his foster home.
Martin has a few years on him, 12 to be exact, but is in good health and loves to go for walks and is great on leash.
Martin does very nicely with other dogs, and has learned to play nicely by himself too, and gotten a few favorite toys.
The fee for this fellow is reduced to senior rate, $125, all his vetting is done and shots are up-to-date.
Martin is fostered in Central FL. Apply here NS 267
Grayson was rescued at the shelter in the nick of time. He's 7-8 and has led a very hard life to judge by his condition: fish hook embedded in his tail, burs and tangles all over, no lower front teeth (but eats fine), and heartworm positive. He'll be fostered in Dunedin, FL and hopefully learn what it feels like to be healthy and well cared for. NS 401
This is Nickie. He’s about 2 ½ and weighs 45 lb. He’s gorgeous. Just a sliver of blue on the inside of his left eye, the rest dark brown, full Irish collar and a full tail. He'll be fostered in Western KY.
