Weber - ADOPTION PENDING

Weber is a gorgeous 2-3 year old black-tri weighing in about 50 pounds. He is a sweet and loving boy. Weber plays well with other dogs, not sure about cats though. He loves to play ball and go for rides in the car, especially to the park with his foster home pets. He is crate trained and house broken. Weber also walks nicely on a leash. He is very eager to please his "human".

Weber is being fostered in Mt. Laurel, NJ with 3 other aussies and they get along great! But he has a very strong guardian instinct and when company comes to visit he does not want to share his "human" with anyone else. Weber would do well with a single person who would be willing to crate him when company comes to visit. . He is such a lovebug with his foster dad and so gentle when taking treats or food. Don't miss out on this wonderful boy!

Here is a video of Weber playing!

Weber is fostered in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

Mishka  This handsome fellow just turned 5 and after a life lived on a sheep farm he has hard a hard time adjusting to city life. So after three failed placements, we are just going to let him stay where he is for now, where he is doing well with a fully fenced yard and some careful management (ie put in another room) when new dogs or people come in. He tends to love both but gets over-excited so introductions are best put off for a few hours and then handled when the emotions are calmer. Unfortunately he turned out not to have good working instincts either, so the attempt to place him on a highly experienced working farm was also a miss. We love this guy but he is not for just any home.  NS2770
Cactus Mack came into the program in KY two years ago and we were told he was 7 at that time, but experience tells us that he was much older. We guess him to be 12-13 now and a very hard 12-13 at that, as the vet expressed it. He had been adopted for 18 months but was returned to us and we figure he is now with us "for the duration". His eyesight and hearing are not the best, and his general mental state is pretty geriatric, but with lots of patience and care he has now adjusted to his foster home and knows the lay of the land. He seems happy enough and really is quite able physically to roam the fenced yard happily.  Mack has been getting some great therapy and his quality of life has improved tremendously.  Here is a video of Mack.  Mack is fostered in Mt. Laurel, NJ NS2781
Helen Keller

Helen Keller is 6 years old and has been blind since birth. She is super sweet and affectionate, and navigates very well. It takes her only a day or two to get oriented in a new place. Her coat is soft like mink and we think she is really a cross with a Jack Russel but anyone's guess is as good as ours.

At only 29 pounds, she is a very nice small size. Helen, whose everyday name is Kelly, is reliable in the house but she needs to take Proin which is a chewable tablet, twice a day, to help her keep bladder control. That runs about 27 cents a day. She is fine when left loose when you're out, and is just a little love to have around.

She loves toys, especially anything that squeaks, and especially balls she can carry around and chase and then curl up with.

Helen Keller is fostered near Reading, PA.

Lizzy

Lizzie Girl as she is fondly called, is an adorable 4 year-old black-tri Aussie. Lizzie is on the smaller side, under 16" at the shoulders and only 30-35 pounds. Not only is she cute, but there isn't a person or dog that Lizzie doesn't love. No resource or food guarding, but she does "spook" occasionally (but not thunder, go figure).

In typical Aussie style, she herds the resident kids around the house and is always up for a walk or a car ride. In fact, she LOVES adventures; she's already been to the ballpark 4 times! A baseball fan in the making.  The ideal home for Lizzie would be an active family willing to have another family member along for the ride from time to time. Lizzie loves her people!

She is crate trained, but she is free in her foster home and does perfectly well. Currently Lizzie is fostered in a townhome with a fenced backyard—she doesn't seem bothered by the small surroundings, and she is so smart, she could handle a real or electric fence. And another resident dog who loves to play is preferable for this playful lovebug. Lizzie also loves dazzling you with her smarts and focus, so if you enjoy teaching dogs tricks, she's your girl.   Lizzie is ready to be part of your family!  She is fostered in the Metro DC region.

Addy

Meet Addy, a 6 yr. old beautiful tri color aussie with a nub for a tail that wiggles when she is happy. Addy weighs about 40 lbs. and is a Velcro aussie with low to medium energy. She is reliable in the house and does not need to be crated. She enjoys cuddling and sleeping on the bed to be close to you. Addy came from a home with 5 other dogs so she is use to being in a pack. Addy will do well in a home with another dog. She relies on her foster sister to show her what to do and how to behave. Addy is not yet interested in toys, bones or playing with another dog. She does like to be brushed and even lets me brush her teeth.
Addy is shy when meeting new people but after a few minutes goes in for a sniff and a quick pet. Addy will do best in a home with older children. She is friendly when meeting new dogs and allows sniffing. Addy walks great on a leash and can go off leash in the woods. She stays with you and never lets you out of her sight.

Addy is sweet and loving and will make a wonderful companion. If Addy sounds like a dog for you please fill out an application.

Addy is fostered in Bel Air, MD.

This is Bella Katrina, our beautiful southern belle who came up to the north from AL, and as with so many dogs from the Gulf area, she is heart worm positive. She had puppies a few months ago but is recovering nicely now after a spay, and her coat will grow back soon (they "blow coat" after pups are weaned). Bella K is a cheerful soul who loves everybody and all other dogs! Now we will spend the next few months getting rid of those darn heartworms and she will be good as new. She's only 2-3 years old so she should make a full recovery and be ready for placement in early June. She's a good size frame, about 20" at the shoulder, but a bit underweight at 35 lbs now. Those kids take it out of you . . .  Please stay posted for updates. Bella Katrina is fostered in Villanova PA  NS3281
Azalea is a very happy girl although uncertain of the many changes that have occurred in her life.  She'll be coming to the Mid-Atlantic soon so stay tuned for updates.  NSXXXX
Diantha will be coming to the Mid-Atlantic soon.  She is generally a happy girl but is a bit weary about her change in circumstances.  Stay tuned for updates.  NSXXXX
Carly has been treated for an insulinoma. Although she's 10, she is eating well and energetic and loves to play with other dogs and go for walks. She's great on leash and has rock solid recall if you have places you want to go off leash without any worry. She hasn't met a dog or a person she doesn't love instantly.
Her adopter couldn't afford the treatment for her condition or even the testing so we took her back. After Dr Steve worked her up, she had surgery, and the only maintenance needed is a glucose test every 6-12 weeks.  Best estimate is she has 18 months of good health ahead, possibly longer, but unfortunately the insulinoma once it starts tends to come back., What we are hoping is that her remaining time is filled with lots of love and play time.  Her only need is to get out to pee more frequently, but she can go through the night 7-8 hours. Other times she will for sure let you know she needs out by chest bumping your leg!
This lovely older girl is just super happy and affectionate, probably more border collie than Aussie, and full of life.  Carly is fostered in Mt. Laurel, NJ NS0980

This is Juniper who is only 12 lbs and 6 months old and won't likely be more than 20 lbs when full grown. She had an unfortunate encounter with a car which shattered her pelvis and she will need 6 weeks of quiet leash walks and just standing to get those bones to knit together now that they have been pinned. As you can tell from the picture this was pre-surgery and she was in a lot of pain. She is such a patient girl and loves children. She will be moving to the northeast in late May or June.  NSXXXX
Princess Sheba - ADOPTION PENDING is a 10 year old black tri female.  She weighs in at about 50 lbs.  This girl is very friendly and is very easygoing.  She will be fostered in Lancaster, PA  NS3291
Update:  Post-surgery picture of Juniper.  Much less pain and enjoying the ride to her foster home!
Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper is about 16 months old and weighs almost 60 pounds. He is VERY energetic and VERY enthusiastic. He loves people and attention. He does well in the car and is decent on a leash (he does some pulling so a good harness and some reinforcement is a must). He is very trainable and smart, but he is good at getting into trouble.

He gets along with most other dogs and loves going to the dog park. His playing can get rough though and he will sometimes bully other dogs if they don't pay attention to him. He would love to have a playmate at home, but absolutely no cats or other small animals due to his high prey drive.

Bradley Cooper has a lot of energy so he will require an active household. If he gets bored, he will make sure everyone knows just how bored he is. Any dog brother/sister should also have a decent amount of energy and love to play! His foster parents think he would do best with a fenced in yard; he loves to run, play fetch, and just hang outside chewing on toys.

Why does this handsome fella keep coming back to New Spirit?? Bradley Cooper has severe separation anxiety. He has been with his foster family on & off since September and has shown significant improvement being left home alone. That being said, there seems to be a long adjustment period going to a new home. It may take months for him to be comfortable enough in his forever home, plus it will require a ton a patience! Being home alone with his foster brother tends to help him feel less anxious, but not a solution to the problem. Crating is not a realistic option because he tends to find his way out of it somehow, which can risk him getting hurt. Bradley Cooper's ideal home would have someone who could be home with him for most, if not all, of the day.

Overall, Bradley Cooper is a very smart and sweet pup. He needs a family who is willing to have the patience and time to spend with him.

Bradley Cooper is fostered in Philadelphia PA.

Bonni

Bonni is a petite (36 pound) 2 year old Aussie mix with a tail and a lot of love! She is shy at first, and appears to be still getting used to living in a house. She is getting the hang of walking on a leash and sitting for treats.
Bonni  was afraid of the resident dogs at first, but now seems happy to have them around and will follow them when her main person isn't around. She is pretty Velcro and seems to have some separation anxiety, which should be manageable with developing her self-confidence. Having other dogs around is probably helpful too.

She is getting used to sleeping in a crate at night. Like many of our foster dogs, Bonni is very sensitive and responds well to correction with just a disapproving tsk, tsk. She will require a gentle hand, and as she develops more confidence, she will be playful more often and should be easily trained as a therapy dog or for agility.

Bonni is fostered in Allentown, PA

Wrigley

Wrigley is a super handsome yellow + white boy who weighs about 50 pounds. He is 10 months old and is looking for a new family to love him. While he’s still technically a puppy, his demeanor is mostly calm and he has good manners, meaning he doesn’t jump or bark too much. He settles nicely for naps throughout the day in his foster home, and loves spending time being active outside. Wrigley can fetch a tennis ball and bring it back, and definitely wants daily exercise with a family who’s around for him. He would love a home with a large yard or a family that will take him places to run around off-leash.

Wrigley is house trained and crate trained, and sleeps through the night without a peep. He knows how to sit and will do just about anything for a treat. He would benefit from positive training methods that can help him be his best self. Wrigley loves attention from his humans and he follows his foster mom around all day long. He gets along well with other dogs, plays nicely and likes to chase, and would do well in a home with other dogs.
Wrigley would prefer a home without cats or other small animals of any kind as he has a high prey drive.

Wrigley is fostered in Philadelphia, PA and can’t wait to hear from you!
